Indonesia is the most, for me, beautiful country in the world. It has so many cultures, various cultures. I myself do not know how many exactly the precise number of Indonesian cultures.
Also Indonesia has its own customs. A custom which is becoming a characteristic of Indonesian people. A thing that can make the foreign people immediately consider us as Indonesian people at the first sight.
A custom of our culture that I wish the foreign people in other countries would adopt is the courteous of Indonesian people. This is, I think, the best characteristic that Indonesian people have.
Let’s compare the characteristic of Indonesian people to the characteristic of people all over the world. With their courteous Indonesian people are always serving the foreign people who came here to Indonesia kindly. They will greet them with their polite, with their kindness, and also do not forget to give them, the foreigner, a bright smile. If it is an American, for example, they usually do not really care about what is happening around them. Then how can they serve us well? It is not only to the foreigner they behaving like that. They will behave like that to the American too.
If I am a foreign person here in Indonesia, I will feel very delight to have them greet me like that. Directly I will get the feeling of comfortable for being here, in Indonesia.
I really want the people in other countries all over the world have a characteristic like Indonesian people. I do hope people in the world would become courteous. It is easy, I am sure. You do not need any practice to be courteous.
